About the Presenter: President and CEO of the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, Brian Kennedy earned his Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His graduate work led to the discovery that sirtuins— enzymes coordinating cell metabolism—are key to the aging process. Brian has published in Science, Nature, Cell and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences; and served on the National Institutes of Health Cellular Mechanisms of Aging and Development study section. He consults for biotech and pharmaceutical companies, and is researching aging in the Pacific Rim. About TEDx: In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
